About The League

STA began around late 1998 by the ideas of GRB and Spodaman. It was an idea to provide a gaming league to which any individual clan could join and then be placed in a level of competition that matched their own. Joining the Hell Spawn Wars league, GRB gained a good sense of what this community needed along with ideas on how to properly deal with clan situations. STA would like to thank Destructor and his HSW league for providing the base of what STA is today. STA was created to prevent a less experienced clan from having to face off against one of the more experienced, which wouldn't project a good match outcome. It would, however, allow the less experienced clans to be able to participate in the games that STA provides, at their level. There weren't many leagues around at the time that followed this idea so GRB took on the challenge to create STA. Many clans signed up from the Team Fortress for Quake community, because that was the only game STA supported at the time. There weren't as many mods to select from back then. STA grew dramatically, and GRB soon required assistance, to which Spodaman and Jackrabbit replied by voluntarily stepping in. These 3 administrators, GRB, Jackrabbit, and SpodaMan, also contributed more ideas into STA so that its services did not become obsolete. Once STA Teamfortress became set in stone, divisions for other mods soon came out. The administration grew very rapidly in order to support the gaming demands of the other divisions.

In early 1999 Tresmer began the idea of TFC (Teamfortress Classic), and ran it very effectively for quite some time. It was a great transitional pace set by him, and without him STA might not have moved on to these other mods. Just a few months later in 1999, CS (Counter Strike) was developed by Seretogis and Blues. By the end of year 2000, STA had divisions in Team Fortress, Team Fortress Classic, Counter Strike, Quake 3 Fortress, Weapons Factory, Frontline Force, Unreal Fortress, Rocket Arena 3, and hopefully more to come. None of these divisions would not be here if it were not for the gaming community, and STA heavily gives its credit to the involvement of the community. These divisions were made possible because the community stepped up and requested that STA support a new mod. STA thanks the community greatly for their great contributions and for providing dedicated administrators to the STA staff. We want people to step up, to take on a challenge, promote life and growth in the gaming world, and best of all have a fun time playing an organized game with a vibrant gaming community.

What GRB envisioned may not have been something this big...the chance to turn STA into a league that supports a wide range of mods other than Team Fortress for Quake. STA is perpetuated by the gamers of these communities, and with the sense that they are to provide any aid to disputes they might be involved in, to the best of their ability. The structuring idea of services in STA is to provide a league with a set of rules by which both the clans and the league abide. It is understood that not all matches go well and disputes occur between clans in matches, and that it is up to STA to resolve those issues hopefully as the last resort. We promote compromising between clans because it should save time and would probably be the fastest way to resolve issues, rather than coming to STA every time. However, in some cases clans will never agree. STA wants the players and clans to know that they may have their questions answered, disputes settled, and to assure them that there will be an updated weekly schedule. One other unique addition to STA is that it values freedom of opinion and speech from the clans towards the admins, and at the same time, has the admins maintain an unbiased composure. It is STA's knowledge that it must listen, accept criticism (without it, there is no improvement), and take on the huge responsibility of making this league truly the best for all gamers. We here at STA would like to wish all the clans in the various STA divisions to have fun, and the best of luck in all their matches.
